Episodes » Episode 41: Tomato SoupI don't know what it's like where you live, but here in New York it rained all weekend and through the first half of the week. At one point my friend Andie said to me, "All I want is grilled cheese and tomato soup," and I thought DARN! We really mised the mark with our tomato soup episode, 2 days too late!" Alas, the rain is gone, but luckily tomato soup is good in all season, and THIS tomato soup is REALLY, SUPER GOOD in all seaons.

Episodes » Episode 40: Dan Dan Noodles
My little brother and I were notoriously picky eaters
when we were younger. Think, like, Meg Ryan in
When Harry Met Sally, "We'll have a BLT on
whole wheat with mayo on the side and only if the
tomatoes are ripe. If they're not ripe, we'll have
turkey sandwiches with cheddar cheese and onions but
oniy if they're red onions and deli mustard. On the
side."
I have vivid memories of other
peoples' parents scolding us because we wouldn't eat
our vegetables. Today's dish - Dan Dan Noodles - was
one of the one things my brother would ingest happy,
however he'd order it with chicken and veggies...you
guessed it...on the side.
Let's give Matthew the benefit of the doubt and assume he (like me) has grown out of his "on the side" phase. Assuming that, I think he'd be happy with my recreation of the only Chinese meal he ever ordered.

Episodes » Episode 38: Curry Chicken SaladLast Valentines Day my boyfriend of 3 years pulled out all the stops and took me to the Russian Tea Room (a place I highly recommend if you're a Mad Men fan or at all interested in that particular 1960s look) for high tea. As far as I was concerned, the stand out on the menu was their Curried Chicken salad; it was a revelation. It blew me away, so far away that I ended up at the grocery store the next day buying ingredients to make my own. What follows it the video adaptation of my interpretation of the Russian Tea Room's most delicious cold salad...watch and see!
