Blog » Bagels are the new crack!Hello, my name is Allie, and I'm a bagel addict.
A great article from the Bitten blog on NYTimes today. Seems that food scientists have discovered what we food addicts already know: junk food can be as addictive as hard drugs. In fact, they're saying that, "the brain responds to junk food the same way it does to heroin". NOT GOOD!
Here's something that makes me feel good though. An excerpt from the report, from grist.com,
"This is the most complete evidence to date that suggests obesity and drug addiction have common neurobiological underpinnings"
SEE!! It's not our fault! We're addicted! We need help! You have to pull the bagels from our cold dead hands!
Whats worse? The rats they experimented on tolerated ELECTRIC SHOCKS to get their junk food. Crazy! That's where I think I'd draw the line. Unless it was pizza. Really, really good pizza.

Blog » Charlie CooksHi, Daniel here! This video blog actually takes place in MY kitchen, not Allie's, and the meal that's being cooked will not last you Sunday through Thursday, so what is it doing here? Good question.
Anyway, I thought I'd let you in on some of the cooking excitment that happened at my place last week, when my housemate Charlie decided to host a dinner party and cook some gourmet dishes. Hilarity ensues! This video also features my housemates Sophie and Justin.

Blog » Urban Farming!Hello, E. Bites Fans! It's been a very busy week here in the land of internet-cooking-television. We've barely had time to tie our shoe laces let alone blog. Thankfully, however, the pace of my week is slowing, and I have some time to tell you about the Urban Farming Workshop Ben and I attended this weekend!

Blog » BONUS FOOTAGE: Allie and the Street MeatIt's very early in the morning and I am very cranky, but this little bonus footage from episode 1 makes me laugh and laugh. To set the scene: I was walking to the grocery store and I saw this man grilling steak on the sidewalk...in 90 degree heat. Sort of ridiculous, but when I see meat - I stop and inquire. Here's the little interaction b/w me and the meat man.
